Windows and Doors
Our state of the art custom Window and Door Facility is located in British Columbia, Canada. Here, all sizes, shapes and accessories are custom built for your unique WoodsCrest Log Home.

Our windows and doors are custom made to the same standards of craftsmanship and quality as our log packages. They have been built specifically for simple installation into a log wall, saving labor costs and the additional material required when installing traditional windows and doors into a log wall. Raw doors are either built in our facility or ordered from B.C. Doors of Canada and then fitted at the facility for hardware, stained and jambed for your custom sizes. Windows and doors are not included in your log package price. They can be bid as a separate cost and contract with WoodsCrest Log Homes.

SIP's and Stain

Structural Insulated Panels (SIP's)

Structural Insulated Panels can be used for the wall system in Post and Beam and Timber Framed Log Homes and the roof system in all of our Log Homes. Many of our clients use SIP’s to speed up the “dry-in” time and for their superior insulation value. They can also be ordered with pine tongue and groove pre-applied to the interior of the panels.

In many parts of the country, there is also a lower cost for the SIP’s versus framing a traditional roof, applying pine tongue and groove, insulating and sheeting the exterior.

Due to the volume of homes built by WoodsCrest Log Homes that utilize their products, the panel companies often offer our clients a discount. Many other log home companies choose to keep this referral as extra profit and some even add an additional mark-up on top! We choose to pass this discount on to you with no additional mark-up, another benefit of working with WoodsCrest Log Homes.

WoodsCrest Log Homes has no connection to these companies and is not responsible for any work or material provided by them. We can arrange for a quote, contracts, timing coordination, engineered roof sheet and your discount for SIP’s.

Sikkens Stain

You or your contractor must preserve the logs with a high quality exterior and interior product. The interior finish is the most important which prevents the logs from drying too quickly. We recommend two coats of Sikkens stain on the inside as soon as possible. A clear coat may be used on the inside. A thorough hand sanding followed by a light sanding in between coats will ensure that the logs will have a soft, smooth feel, which will make dusting easy and not “grab” clothing as you brush against the logs. We recommend two coats of Sikkens stain on the exterior which includes a UV inhibitor and pigmentation to decrease the solar damage.

If you choose a different brand of stain verify that your stain will not chip, crack or peel if applied correctly to save you significant labor and cost in the future when it is time to re-apply. A quality product will save you labor, expense and headaches and will last far longer than “inexpensive” brands. WoodsCrest Log Homes has been recommending and using Sikkens on our windows and doors and company buildings since 1990.

WoodsCrest Log Homes is a dealer for Sikkens and can arrange your purchase and drop shipment to your site of Sikkens. WoodsCrest Log Homes is not responsible for any guarantees or warranties provided by Sikkens.
